The safety of our families should be the top priority of any mayor. Infrastructure improvement; increased support to law enforcement, emergency medical services, and the fire department are crucial to moving Morehead forward.

Morehead deserves a mayor who is committed to developing its tourism industry. Laura will continue her work with the Chamber of Commerce,


City and County Collaboration

By strengthening our relationships with Morehead State University, collaboration with KCTCS and the public school system, we can help Morehead retain top talent and drive economic growth.


In 2018, Laura committed to:

  • Involve citizens in comprehensive long-term city planning & economic development. 
  • Stimulate business growth in north Morehead Continue revitalization of downtown. 
  • Build sidewalks to promote walking & neighborhood safety. 
  • Enhance recreation opportunities to attract young families. 
  • Strengthen diversity & inclusion through policies, programs & organizations. 
  • Identify resources for carefully-planned recreational facilities use, development & maintenance. 
  • Expand & maintain walking, running & biking paths. 
  • Work collaboratively with MSU, MCTCS, City & County agencies to improve community health & opioid crisis facilities & programs.

Additional accomplishments:

  • Began building the new City of Morehead Police and 911 Facility. 
  • Completed the Sheltowee Splash Pad. 
  • Created a body-worn camera program for the Morehead Police Department. 
  • Created and opened the Morehead Womens Park. Created of the Morehead Entertainment District. 
  • Created of the Morehead Rowan County Community Fund’s COVID-19 Small Business Account. 
  • Developed the annual Run Morehead 5K fundraising event. 
  • Established a city communications director. 
  • Established full-time pay for the Morehead Fire Department; the first in city history. 
  • Implemented Public Art features throughout the City, including the installation of the first murals downtown. 
  • Obtained $260,400 in grant funding for 911-emergency services. 
  • Opened & revitalized the Laughlin Health Building as a community recreation center. 
  • Re-established the Morehead Rowan County Recreation Board.
