Elected the first female mayor of Morehead, Kentucky at age 30, Laura White-Brown was born and raised in Rowan County. White-Brown is a graduate of Rowan County Senior High School and Morehead State University. She worked for the University of Kentucky prior to working for Harold White Lumber, Inc.
As Export Logistics Coordinator, she embraced the opportunity to travel internationally in the last year, spending five weeks in China to help grow the family business. She currently resides on the board of Christian Social Services, Salvation Army, and is a member of the Young Professionals Association for Rowan County.
She also serves on the board of directors for the Kentucky League of Cities and was selected in a highly competitive process as a representative on the Appalachian Regional Commission’s regional leadership program.
White-Brown also completed the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy, and traveled to China with the local nonprofit Blessing Hands. Her work with the Cooperative Extension Service gave her the opportunity to collaborate with many local entities including:
